Toncoin (TON) has recently experienced a remarkable surge, driven by significant developments surrounding Telegram, the popular social media platform. The latest buzz revolves around the possibility of Telegram going public with an initial public offering (IPO).

Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram, recently disclosed that the messaging app has surpassed 900 million users, a substantial increase from 500 million in 2021. Durov also mentioned in an interview with the Financial Times that Telegram’s introduction of advertising and premium subscription services two years ago has led to substantial revenue growth, with yearly expenses per monthly user remaining below 70 cents.

Telegram is implementing various revenue-generating strategies, including revenue sharing with channel creators and introducing new features like business accounts and a “social discovery” feature. These initiatives aim to diversify revenue streams and enhance user engagement.

Interest from potential investors has reportedly driven Telegram’s potential valuation to exceed $30 billion. However, Durov emphasized the company’s commitment to remaining independent, suggesting that an IPO would democratize access to Telegram’s value. Although no specific timeline or venue for the IPO was provided, sources suggest Telegram may consider a US listing once profitability is achieved and market conditions are favorable.

Telegram has already secured approximately $2 billion in debt financing through bond offerings, providing flexibility for future financial decisions. The company is also considering selling stock allocations to loyal users and exploring a smaller equity raise to support its AI ambitions and enhance moderation processes.

As a result of Telegram’s endorsement and integration of TON into its platform, Toncoin has surged by 97% in the past month, reaching new yearly highs. The anticipation surrounding Telegram’s potential IPO has further propelled TON’s upward trajectory, with a 20% increase in the past 24 hours, bringing its current trading price to $4.40. Moreover, TON has ascended to become one of the top 13 largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, surpassing notable coins like Polkadot (DOT), Polygon (MATIC), and Chainlink (LINK). This surge underscores the growing prominence and market confidence in Toncoin.
